Getting Started

Before you begin your practice, some helpful tips…

  • NEW to West End Yoga? Please complete this Waiver. 
  • Please note that some classes may run a little past the scheduled time.
  • It is recommended that you practice yoga on an empty stomach: 2-3 hours after a meal and at least 1 hour after a snack.
  • Please wear comfortable non-binding stretchy clothing.  Bare foot is recommended for practice.
  • Try to arrive at least 5-10 minutes before class is to begin so you don’t have to rush to get your mat set up and yourself settled.
  • You will need a yoga mat. We have a few to borrow, however, we recommend you invest in your own mat which can be purchased from many retailers, or at West End Yoga for $25. Mats can be washed in your bathtub or gentle cycle in your washing machine with mild soap, and dried in your dryer on the low setting.
  • Please be sure your cell is turned off or is on silent mode.
  • Please avoid wearing fragrance to class.
  • Please tell the instructor before class if you have an injury or are pregnant.
  • Only you know how you feel in a pose, so listen to your body and respect your personal needs at all times.  You should be able to maintain a smooth deep breath throughout your practice.
  • It is recommended to drink plenty of water after your yoga practice to flush toxins and to rehydrate.
